Quote from edge3147 :Keep thinking you are invincible.

No, im not, and i suck at the S2 tracks/cars...

Its not me, its because over 10 FPS, its already playable... Anyway, i get 12 just sometimes... The average is 16, what is nothing so bad...

Quote from cargame.nl :If you look at the current server population there are not many so called active racer playing simulators.

LFS; poorly populated
Netkar; almost empty
Rfactor; almost empty

Al other names are not even worth to mention.

So we are left with names like; Forza, Dirt, Iracing, Gran Turismo .. Which are more games then simulators but highly popular.

Its better to attract gamers and try to convert them into race simulator enthusiasts then try to keep this very low amount of people.

About NetKar, i don't know, but rFactor community is and was mostly always full... When not online, people driving offline... The rFactor leagues have big sponsors, full grids, tight racing, how this is "empty"?

iRacing, even not being so realistic and having flaws on its physics, its a simulator... More simulator than the other games you citated, so its a sim still...

Quote from edge3147 :Have you ever played a game online with under 30 fps? Almost Impossible.

12 when racing inside a pack, to be more exact...

BL1, FBM/XFG/XRG, im competitive (1:14/34 average lap) and the only crashs are racing incidents...

Having a bad PC doesn't changes nothing for who races against me...

Quote from cargame.nl :Doesn't matter. It's polling a LARGE number of gaming orientated people. Statistics say that if you poll 1000 people it already is more then enough. Let alone this.

I personally would like to see that people which cannot achieve 50 FPS or more cannot join a race at all (only cruising). Would improve a lot..

Well, first, sim racers and gamers are a very different people... Gamers just want to win, get points, collect status, like most of the actual LFS players. Sim Racers are race fans who want to race, respecting the rules and etc, uncare about statuses, "rt", and these things... Also forgetting the fact what gamers play all games, racers play only simulators.

Second, why only have people with high end PC's racing would improve anything? There is no relationship between finnancial status and driving hability...

Quote from John5200 :I don't say there shouldn't be any demo servers anymore, I say it should be done like years before. Some years ago there was a licence seperation, so that S2 could choose what servers should be displayed (not entirely sure if it was seperated 3 times (Demo / S1 / S2) or 2 times (Demo / S1 + S2). (like in LFS World)

But back then S2 racers raced S2 stuff and demo racers, demo races. Now since most S2 guys are in demo servers, races are most of the time on limited player, BL1 + FBM, with tons of crashers and yeah ALWAYS the same config. Dunno but IMO the server list should be seperated again.

(Demo is a IMOPRTANT part of LFS. Did anyone here buy LFS before trying the demo? I just say the displayed serverlist should be seperated again)

Edit: There is nothing wrong with variaty. If cruises want to cruise, let them cruise. If drifters want to drift, let them. They just need to be easyly seperated.

Edit2: found a picture of what I mean (and yes it was seperated 3 times. It shold be seperated just twice, never had a problem with S1 races)

How to seperate "racing types": When opening a server choose one of 3 options: race, cruise or drift. Just like we seperate cruise from the rest, drift should be also a option to toggle off. Problem solved.

+1 That would be a great idea...

Quote from Bose321 :I don't get what's with the hate against drifters and cruisers. Aslong they stay in their own server and don't start cluttering race servers I don't see a problem.

Besides, if you would get rid of drifters and cruisers LFS would lose all drivers online.

I personally don't hate cruisers or drifters, i was a cruiser 2 years ago and also tried to learn drift, i like all styles from driving...

The problem itself, like your post says, its LFS community is basicly made mostly from drifters and cruisers...

Racers are going away to C.A.R.S., rF2, GTR, iRacing, and racing is becoming extinct... Where still exists races, its something artificial, people just driving to get more !ex or !rt, or crazy races at South City what starts with 15 cars and finishs with 5...
Sorry for double posting! o/

Quote from master_lfs.5101 :It wouldn't help lfs in either way. If cruise servers were gone, those players would stop playing, its not like they would magically start filling up the slots in racing servers. They don't want to race, thats why they cruise.

About that wouldn't help LFS in a short period, is a big truth... The second part, "they don't want to race", its exactly the problem... Why you buy a racing simulator of not for racing? This can create a problem, like on Brazil, where most of the people here know LFS as a drifting simulator with stupid mods...

This makes a bad reputation for real racers and sim racers (there is a famous post here in LFS forum what represents it: "LFS: Racing, cruising, drifting, stunt and Cocking About simulator"), that can easily explain why most S2 servers are empty today while F1 2011, rFactor and other sims communities increase...

To me, i think the best solution would be to if remove cruising and drifting, do it when S3 come, so will be fair with cruisers/drifters and would guarantee new racers coming...

Well, to be honest, the demo account problem is a big paradox...

Simply remove the demo users or say them "buy or go away" is not the best solution, there are a lot of good drivers that can't buy a S2 account (was my case), would be a big loss from great racers (some probably better than most of the S2 drivers)... But in the reverse side, like John5200 said, the demo servers are part of what makes the S2 servers empty...

Its something to think...

Quote from PoVo :If cruise servers were banned, then at least 40% of the players would disappear from LFS...

Apart from the finnancial part of LFS,

Think about it: 40% of the players from LFS just buyed to keep driving road cars at 60 km/h.

Most of the racing servers are mostly empty, except the Cargame servers (when you can't race if you are slow because most of the others slow (and some of the fast) drivers also don't how to race)...

If you were a sim racer, wanted another sim to buy, would you buy a sim where 40% of the "racers" are just driving slowly in race tracks with no barriers, and the other 60% rarely races, needs an automatic system to protect them from crashs, but still crashes?

Cruise servers doesn't are a problem to us who play LFS, but is something what can avoid a lot of potential (good) racers to come...

Quote from Shotglass :so esentially you could be at an advanatge if your clock is running slow
or if you figure out a way to make it run slow

If your clock is running slower, the car is slower too... The entire game goes slower...

So no advantage or disvantage...

Quote from Ingolf :What if: the so long awaited patch makes it nearly impossible for keboard/mouse users to be on par with wheel/pedals/clutch/gearbox-users?

As for me I do not see it as a personal problem (using G25) but in another perspective; maybe Scawen must take this into consideration when applying the new tyre physics model. If the patch elevates the (full) wheel users and makes it extremely hard to participate/being cometitive with mouse/kb all those fellas are going to drop dead and wish for keeping S2 as is.

On a personal note I hope Scawen exclude the adaptation to mouse/kb input and go for making the wheel input as standard to get the most out of it.

Some still use mouse and kb so I was just reflecting over this possibility that they may no longer feel competitive after next release.

It will be a problem to the kb/mouse users... I dont think there will be any need to change anything to make the game better or worst to mouse drivers...

Quote from boothy :If you anyone is using Airio on their server, be sure to enable the waved yellow flags option, which will add the word "WAVED" above a yellow flag if the car causing the yellow is on the race path.

Well, i hate the AIRIO yellow flag system, because it only shows a message "HUGE CRASH AHEAD!!!!!!" when you already are seeing a "YELLOW FLAG" message from LFS...

The biggest problem, i think, its what in LFS people don't see it as a real racing, but as a simple game...

They just want to win, and forget about racing things...
Some examples i saw while racing:

-Forcing a 3 wide on South city
-Trying to pass someone with damaged car on a corner (SO too)
-Forcing over someone with low car control on a tight corner

Normally, when i was demo user and faster than half of the grid, i never had problems with newbie drivers (drivers from 0,5 to 5s slower), but in the S2 servers i had several problems with the others touching me because im slower...

Quote from frotto110 :i played it before, but there are only crashers and hackers, so i find myself more funny to play offline. if i had s2, probably will spend more time online

Funny, i have 28317.3 kms only at demo servers and rarely had problems about crashers and hackers...

Personally i think that the demo servers/drivers are even better than the S2 ones...

Also, why would someone buy you a license if you never driven online?

Just to say:

Yes, it is... Lot of people driving at demo servers, but a populated S2 server has the same people as a normal demo one...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4jSulqs61o

They park it at pit entry... No one cares about it on "informal" races, and at leagues it is obligatory...

So...?

My suggestion would be a option to deactivate the player option to spectate, allowing only to the admins to do it, like in real life, when if someone crashs, the drivers behind need to avoid it (or wait in case of a big one), and a safety truck comes to take the car out from the track...

Obviously, that would only work for leagues... Anyway, its cool...
